Harris says thank you to Millwall

Neil Harris today said he ended his long association with Millwall on good terms.

The striker has joined Nottingham Forest after falling out of favour at The Den.

He spent nearly seven years at Millwall before being loaned to Cardiff three weeks ago.

Harris jointly holds the club record for league goals, a total of 93, with Teddy Sheringham but was out of contract next summer and told he did not feature in manager Dennis Wise's plans.

The 27-year-old, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Forest, insisted he still has affection for Millwall. He said: "I knew things were going a bit cold for me and it was time to move on.

"I am a little bit sad because I had some great years at Millwall and the fans supported me throughout my time at the club."

Championship strugglers Forest made their move for Harris last weekend and sealed the deal for a nominal fee yesterday.

He went straight into Mick Harford's squad for the Boxing Day trip to West Ham and is likely to face his former Millwall team-mates at The City Ground on 15 January.
