Harlequins bring back Wood

Barry Newcombe13 April 2012

Harlequins welcome back hooker Keith Wood, who has been missing for 13 weeks with a calf injury, for tomorrow's Zurich Premiership match against Newcastle at The Stoop.

In the absence of regular skipper Garrick Morgan and England wing Dan Luger, dropped to the bench, Irish international Wood will captain Quins, who are bottom of the table and facing relegation.

Wood said: "The noose is tightening. We're not in a great situation but all I am thinking about is winning the game and trying to get a good performance."

London Irish, chasing third-placed Sale, are calling in former world boxing champion Barry McGuigan to help set the mood for their St Patrick's Day weekend, which begins against Bristol at Reading tomorrow.

McGuigan will sing what has become the Irish anthem - The Fields of Athenry - at the Madejski Stadium.
