Hammers fail in Hadji bid

West Ham have failed to persuade Mustapha Hadji to join on loan because he says they were only offering him a two-month deal. The Moroccan midfielder has played just 20 minutes in Aston Villa's first team this season.

Hadji, 31, said: "The move would have taken me to the start of the transfer window but I'd have only played a few games and then I'd be back and what was the point of that?

"If it had been any longer, I'd have thought about it but I know I am good enough to play for Villa. I have to stay positive and always think that I will get back in the team."
