Gunners defeat Spurs to reach final

12 April 2012

Arsenal grabbed two extra-time goals at the Emirates Stadium against rivals Tottenham to set up a Carling Cup final with Chelsea.

Emmanuel Adebayor looked to have sealed victory in the semi-final second leg but Mido came off the bench to head home and force another 30 minutes.

Jeremie Aliadiere struck on the stroke of half-time in the extra period, taking advantage of a mistake from Spurs substitute Ricardo Rocha, before Tomas Rosicky's shot cannoned off the post and in off Pascal Chimbonda.

It meant Spurs, without Aaron Lennon who was reportedly taken ill, had still not recorded a victory over their rivals since 1999.
