Gunners boss Wenger is angry as he gets Euro ban after Seville strop

14 April 2012

Arsene Wenger said today he has behaved much worse on the sidelines than the game that has prompted the first touchline ban of his career.

Arsenal's manager has been given an automatic one-match ban after being sent to the stands for remonstrating with the fourth official during the 3-1 defeat to Sevilla on Tuesday.

Point made: Wenger is sent to the stands in Seville

He said: "I was surprised to be sent off. If you are speeding at 60mph sometimes you are not caught when you drive at 70mph and sometimes you are caught when you drive at 61mph. I drove at 60-and-a-half mph.

"I don't think I'll appeal because I don't know what I have been charged with. At the end of the day I don't think I have done a lot to create a fracas."

Wenger will have to watch the game against Steaua Bucharest on 12 December from the stands but could be hit with an even longer ban by UEFA.
