Gregory takes up Derby post

John Gregory was confirmed today as the new manager of Derby County.

Gregory, who was announced as Colin Todd's successor at a Pride Park press conference, quit as manager of Aston Villa last Thursday, blaming a breakdown in his relationship with controversial Villa chairman Doug Ellis.

But Gregory has stepped straight into an uphill battle to keep the second-from-bottom Rams in the top flight. Todd was sacked two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Coventry chairman Bryan Richardson has resigned following an unanimous vote of no confidence at today's board meeting.
