Boost: Cheikhou Kouyate has made good progress on his thigh muscle injury

West Ham’s injury problems should have improved by the time they go to Burnley on Saturday week.

Manager Sam Allardyce was without seven players for last weekend’s Premier League win against Queens Park Rangers but there was positive news today on Senegal international Cheikhou Kouyate, who injured a thigh muscle against Liverpool at the end of last month.

Initial diagnosis suggested Kouyate would be out for up to six weeks but the former Anderlecht player has since made good progress.

There is an outside chance he could be fit for the away trip to Burnley but if not, the £7million summer signing should be available for the home clash against Manchester City on October 25.

Fellow midfielder Mark Noble is back in training following the calf problem which ruled him out of the last two matches while club captain Kevin Nolan and winger Matt Jarvis were both named among the substitutes for the win over Rangers.
