Giggs fears Leeds revolution

13 April 2012

Ryan Giggs believes that Leeds have the potential to pose a serious threat to Manchester United's continued dominance of the Premiership.

The Welsh star will be watching from the stands when the two sides do battle at Elland Road

And he is fully aware that David O'Leary's side are closing the gap on the reigning champions and this season's runaway leaders.

"I expect Leeds to be one of our main challengers in the next couple of seasons," said Giggs.

"Especially now they have so much experience in the Champions League.

"Leeds have done unbelievably well in Europe this season.

"To beat the Italian champions Lazio in their own stadium just before Christmas was a result that made everyone sit up and take notice.

"That will have a knock-on effect in the Premiership next season."

O'Leary has spent a fortune in strengthening his squad over the last couple of years, but one buy above all has caught the eye of Giggs.

He told icons.com: "Leeds are overflowing with good players, but I've been really impressed with Rio Ferdinand since he joined.

"I think he has handled himself really well since his £18million transfer from west Ham.

"He must have been under a lot of pressure, but you wouldn't know it in the way he's been playing lately."
