Fulham offer not enough for Djorkaeff

Fulham have lost out to Blackburn in the race to sign Youri Djorkaeff.

The French striker becomes Mark Hughes's first signing as Rovers manager after agreeing a deal until January, although it may be extended after that.

Djorkaeff trained with Fulham last week and was impressed by Chris Coleman, but the club failed to come up with a satisfactory offer. The 36-year-old was available on a free after quitting Bolton in the summer.

The failure to land Djorkaeff - combined with Andy Cole's suspension following his red card against West Bromwich Albion - should mean an extended run in the team for Tomasz Radzinski.

The Canadian striker initially struggled following his £1.75million move from Everton, but has now scored three goals in two games.

Radzinski is confident his game will improve once he and girlfriend, Cathy, move into a new house and grow accustomed to life in London.

He said: "I am still settling in. I'm still learning a different kind of football and am still living out of a suitcase - which is not ideal - but hopefully within the next two weeks I can move in to my new place and jump-start my career at Fulham."

The passing style of Coleman's side stands in sharp contrast to Everton's long-ball game.

Radzinski said: "With Fulham, because of the quality of the players we have, you build up the game from the defence, through the midfield and then you try to provide for the strikers.

"So it is completely different and it is not easy [adapting], but I am learning every day."
