F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix: Race start time UK, qualifying results and TV channel for race today

Marc Mayo12 June 2022

Charles Leclerc starts on pole for today’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku as the Ferrari ace looks to reclaim the lead in the 2022 Formula One world championship.

The street-circuit race will be of a very different kind to what fans witnessed a fortnight ago, with wide-open boulevards and long straights on the coast of the Caspian Sea a world away from Monaco.

Sergio Perez claimed victory last time out as Ferrari suffered another malfunction in their bid to deliver Leclerc his maiden world title. The pair were once again the quickest in qualifying, with Leclerc taking pole ahead of the Mexican.

Max Verstappen is nine points clear of Leclerc in the early championship standings, and will start third in Baku with Carlos Sainz in fourth.

While Leclerc continues to endure a curse at his home race of Monaco, Verstappen has struggled to find fortune in Baku and has never finished on the podium at the track.

Quiet a fortnight ago, Mercedes’ struggles continue in Azerbaijan. Lewis Hamilton enters the weekend sixth in the championship and qualified seventh, while George Russell is on course to maintain his top-five finish streak as he starts the race in fifth.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the race...
