Former Spurs star ready for Celtic move as Bhoys also target Roma star Brighi

Bundesliga outfit SV Hamburg are ready to sell Cameroon defender Timothee Atouba to Celtic.

The Germans claim the Parkhead club have made an initial inquiry about the £2million-rated left-back.

Set for Scottish switch: Timothee Atouba of Cameroon (left) battles with Holland star Robin van Persie

Wigan were linked with the Cameroon international as well, but Atouba, 26, seems keen on Glasgow if Gordon Strachan firms up his interest in the former Spurs man.

German newspapers yesterday insisted that a £2m bid is on the way from Celtic, as the SPL champions look to add to the signature of winger Pat McCourt.

Uncertain future: Naylor (left) with Celtic boss Gordon Strachan

Lee Naylor's future could depend on whether Strachan can sign another left-back, with the Englishman unlikely to be averse to a move back south.

Roma midfielder Matteo Brighi is also on the Parkhead radar and the Italians are expected to let the 27-year-old leave this summer.
