Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth says he was “humbled” to share a touchline with Jose Mourinho in last night’s FA Cup defeat to Tottenham and joked the Portuguese could play a “mean tambourine” in his band.

The Championship side were knocked out of the competition after a 4-1 defeat, but only after they had given the Premier League side a real scare, taking a first-half lead and then remaining on terms after Gareth Bale’s equaliser until the 86th-minute, before a flurry of late goals put some gloss on the scoreline.

As well as managing Wycombe, Ainsworth is the lead singer in a rock band called Cold Blooded hearts.

Speaking ahead of the game, Mourinho claimed he would not be able to join the band as his woeful singing voice would “destroy” their music.

However, when asked whether he would still welcome the Portuguese for a collaboration, Ainsworth said: "Absolutely - he said he might not be able to sing but I bet he can play a mean tambourine!

”He is a top guy and a great manager. He has given me a lot of respect tonight and I am humbled to be on the same touchline as him today."
