'Witsel, Berahino and Wanyama are still on Tottenham's radar' - What to expect from Spurs in the January transfer window

Sam Long22 December 2015

Now Tottenham have secured a place in the top-four in time for Christmas two schools of thought have emerged among fans in regards to the upcoming January transfer window.

Some are keen to see Mauricio Pochettino add to his squad to ensure the Argentine coach's young side does not fall short.

But others are wary of disrupting the clear sense of camaraderie that has helped Spurs get to where they are thus far.

While the former scenario will undoubtedly be tempting to Daniel Levy and co, it would be foolish to dismiss the notion that new recruits could distort the team's unity.

But it is also difficult to argue that a back-up striker to Harry Kane is not needed.

The 22-year-old is the only senior forward at the club and an untimely injury to 'one of their own' could see the team's progress fall flat.

Saido Berahino is still on Tottenham's radar but doing business with the Baggies is unlikely to be straightforward.

Elsewhere, Eric Dier's emergence in centre midfield has been impressive but interest in both Axel Witsel and Victor Wanyama remains.

Two moves for targets from Ligue 1 are also in the pipeline, but negotiations look set to be shelved until the summer.
