Chelsea hope to conclude negotiations with Willian over a contract extension in the new year.

The club want to reward the Brazil international for his superb performances this term by securing his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

While Chelsea have struggled this season, Willian has taken his game to another level and is the club’s top scorer with five goals.

His current deal, worth around £80,000 a week, expires in 2018 but Chelsea want to give him a minimum of another two years and take his pay to £100,000 a week.

Talks have already begun and it is just a matter of time before an agreement is announced. Chelsea have been keen to tie down some of their key players. Eden Hazard signed a new five-year contract in February, while Willian’s Brazil team-mate Ramires also committed himself to the club until 2019 last month.
