Wilfried Zaha may be dogged by transfer doubts off the pitch but on it he was his irrepressible self as he scored twice for Crystal Palace in a 4-0 friendly win over Reading.

The Ivory Coast international has rejected a new contract offer and told Palace he wants to leave for Champions League football.

Tottenham and Dortmund are leading the chase for Zaha but that did not stop Eagles boss Roy Hodgson naming him in a strong side at the Madjeski Stadium that also included Alexander Sorloth.

The Norway striker profited from Zaha’s driving run down the left to turn in the opener, Palace’s only goal of the first half against Championship side Reading.

Zaha then struck two of his own, flicking home a Patrick van Aanholt cross and slamming a shot from the edge of the box beyond Royals goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

James Tomkins rounded off the victory, heading home Van Aanholt’s cross after Mannone had misjudged the delivery.
