Crystal Palace club captain Paddy McCarthy made his first appearance since April 2012 after being named in the starting line-up for the FA Cup clash at holders Wigan.

The defender has been out for nearly two years with a groin injury but was included in a strong Palace team which also featured Jason Puncheon, Cameron Jerome and Marouane Chamakh.

Manchester United loanee Nick Powell was only fit enough to start on the bench for the hosts, while new loan signing Josh McEachran was left out altogether, as was Ivan Ramis, who looks to be on the verge of a move to Cardiff after the two clubs agreed a fee for the central defender on Thursday night.

Wigan: Al Habsi, Perch, Boyce, Barnett, Beausejour, Watson, McArthur, McManaman, Espinoza, McClean, Maynard. Subs: Crainey, McCann, Nicholls, Gomez, Powell, Redmond, Fortune.

Crystal Palace: Speroni, Mariappa, McCarthy, Delaney, Parr, Puncheon, O'Keefe, Guedioura, Bannan, Chamakh, Jerome. Subs: Campana, Gayle, Wilbraham, Williams, Moxey, Price, Boateng.
