Chelsea defender Matt Miazga was handed his first Chelsea start for their trip to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.
The United States international joined from New York Red Bulls for an undisclosed fee on a four-and-a-half-year deal towards the end of the January window.
Manager Guus Hiddink conceded at the time he had not seen Miazga live before completing a swoop for the 20-year-old, who emerged as a shock target when it became clear that ambitious bids to land one of John Stones, Marquinhos or José Giménez would have to wait until the summer.
Hiddink added: “He's an up-and-coming youngster. He is a permanent signing. I've not watched much of him. I saw him being a good, athletic player.”
Miazga was named alongside Branislav Ivanovic in the heart of Chelsea's defence as Guus Hiddink named an unorthodox back four in the absence of injured duo John Terry and Gary Cahill. Meanwhile, Willian, who is also nursing a minor problem, Eden Hazard and the suspended Diego Costa were absent at Villa Park.
