Who could Tottenham face in the Europa League? Roberto Soldado’s Villarreal and the 15 possibilities in the last 32 draw

Tottenham will have hoped that their next European draw will have seen them pit their wits against the Champions League top sides, but following a disappointing campaign, they once again find themselves in the Europa League.

All things considered though, it could have been so much worse.

The 3-1 victory over CSKA Moscow in their final group game not only saw them salvage a spot in the Europa League, it allowed them to secure a place among the seeded teams – albeit narrowly.

Going into Monday’s draw in Nyon, Spurs face 15 possible opponents in the round of 32 – including some familiar faces.

A tie against Villarreal would see Mauricio Pochettino’s side face former striker Roberto Soldado, while RSC Anderlecht – who Spurs defeated in the 1984 Uefa Cup final are also a possibility.

Uefa rules stipulate that a team cannot face an opponent from the same confederation, so they will avoid Manchester United who finished runners-up in their group, and thus are unseeded for Monday's draw.
