Tottenham captain Younes Kaboul is close to making a deadline day move to West Ham, Standard Sport understands.

The 29 year-old centre back could join the East London club in a deal worth around £2.5m.

Kaboul was handed the captain's armband last summer but has fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane following some shaky displays and the emergence Federico Fazio.

Kaboul had earlier attracted interest from Italian club Roma, but appeared to be closer to moving to the Boleyn Ground on transfer deadline day.

West Ham are also looking at veteran Everton defender Sylvain Distin as an alternative as manager Sam Allardyce looks to bolster his injury ravaged defence.

James Tomkins, James Collins and Winston Reid are all currently injured.
