West Ham co-owner David Gold insists the club are not worried about be beaten to the signature of Manuel Lanzini, because they have ‘first option’ for the Argentine.

The 22-year-old has impressed for the Hammers since arriving on loan from Al-Jazira, scoring four goals in 12 Premier League appearances so far this season, including a stunning consolation strike in the defeat to Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Lanzini, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, admitted he was ‘flattered’ to be attracting interest from Jurgen Klopp’s side.

But Gold has moved to play down suggestions that West Ham could miss out on the talented forward, insisting that they have first refusal on the player.

“We have a first option to sign Manuel. There’s no concern,” he said. “He has been exceptional for us.”

“We like him and if he carries on like this he will be one hell of a player.”
