West Ham could offer captain Kevin Nolan and winger Matt Jarvis as part of any deal for QPR striker Charlie Austin.

Austin, who scored 18 goals in his first season in the Premier League, is also wanted by Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Southampton but QPR’s £15million asking price is a stumbling block.

West Ham need a striker with a proven Premier League record and Austin, 26, fits the bill. It is understood he would prefer to stay in London.

QPR were interested in signing Jarvis in January while Nolan looks increasingly unlikely to feature regularly for West Ham in the coming season.

Stewart Downing is expected to complete a £5m move back to his first club, Middlesbrough.
