David Moyes looks ahead to West Ham summer rebuild after deciding against striker signing

David Moyes is eyeing a summer rebuild at West Ham after deciding against signing a striker in the January window.

The Hammers, who are four points off the Premier League's top four, sold Sebastien Haller for £20million early in the transfer window but, after a number of failed offers, could not find the right replacement.

Jesse Lingard arrived on loan from Manchester United and Moyes has hinted he could be used as a false nine if needed, with injury-prone Michail Antonio the only senior striker at the club.

After spending the last two windows correcting a lot of expensive mistakes in the transfer market, Moyes has maintained that money would only be spent on player sure to improve the squad.

After having their hands burned on the likes of Haller, Felipe Anderson and Jack Wilshere, Moyes is aware of the precarious position financially that Premier League clubs find themselves in.

"We didn't get one [a striker] but we were looking and we wanted to try and pick correctly," said Moyes.

"We had money to spend, the owners had money to spend. We sold Seb earlier in the window so we had that, but we are trying to do things different at West Ham.

"We're not going to follow the same path we have been following before. I chose to keep my money and hopefully we can start another rebuild come the summer time."
