Cheikhou Kouyate is out of Saturday's match against Chelsea.

The West Ham midfielder injured a hamstring in Sunday’s defeat at Manchester City and will also miss next Wednesday’s home game against Arsenal.

“We don’t think he will be out for too long — maybe just a week or two — but he definitely won’t be considered for tomorrow,” said boss David Moyes.

There was better news for Moyes, though, about several others in his senior squad, including strikers Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez — who has been out since injuring a hamstring a month ago — and Andy Carroll, who has missed two matches following a knee injury.

“Chicharito had been training on his own but joined in on Wednesday along with Mark Noble, Winston Reid and James Collins,” said Moyes. “Andy Carroll also returned to training yesterday so the situation is easing, which is just as well with the hectic schedule we have coming up.”
