West Ham’s £4million move for Darren Randolph is on hold so they can make further checks on an injury that sidelined him in recent weeks.

Hammers manager David Moyes wants to sign Randolph as his new No2 goalkeeper but the move has been delayed after issues arose during his medical.

Randolph has not played for Middlesbrough since November 24 because of a hip problem and West Ham want to be sure he will not be out for a long period. The 32-year-old Ireland international has now returned to Middlesbrough for treatment. West Ham hope the problem will not be serious enough to stop the transfer going through but they are taking a cautious approach.

Moyes wants Randolph, who spent two years at West Ham between 2015 and 2017, to provide experienced cover for Lukasz Fabianski.

The Hammers have targeted a reliable back-up keeper after losing faith in Roberto following his nightmare run in the team at the end of last year.
