Beer prices at the London Stadium are expected to be lowered in time for West Ham’s next home game after fans complained about extortionate £7.30 pints.

The cheapest pint at the Hammers’ Premier League opener against Manchester City last weekend was the most expensive in the division, costing almost a pound more than the second-dearest, at Arsenal, while at Tottenham prices start at £5.19.

The most expensive pint at West Ham set fans back £7.60, while a bottle of Coca-Cola cost a whopping £4.50.

West Ham are not directly responsible for the prices at the ground, which are set by catering company Delaware North, and the club have threatened legal action, citing the Comparable Clubs clause in their contract, which is designed to protect supporters from soaring costs.

The Hammers are in discussions with Delaware North and the London Stadium over the dispute and are confident prices will be reduced by the time Danish side Viborg visit for the first leg of the Europa Conference League qualifying play-off next Thursday.

Several top-flight clubs, including Chelsea, have made commitments to freezing last season’s food and drink prices amid the cost of living crisis.
