Heurelho Gomes was Watford's hero as the goalkeeper saved two Saido Berahino penalties to help earn a 1-0 Premier League win against West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

Watford took the lead at The Hawthorns in the first half through Ben Watson, though West Brom had plenty of chances to get back into the match.

Gomes conceded the first penalty 66 minutes in after tripping Berahino following a fine through-ball by Stephane Sessegnon, but the Baggies striker saw his effort well saved by the Brazilian keeper.

The hosts continued to push for an equaliser and had another chance from 12 yards after Sessegnon was caught by Etienne Capoue with five minutes remaining.

But disaster streuck for Berahino once more as the young English forward got down well to his left to earn Watford a hard-fought win.

Gomes became the first goalkeeper in Premier League history to save two penalties in two different leagues games, and handed Quique Sanchez Flores' side a massive survival boost.
