We won't get carried away, vows Chris Hughton

Chris Hughton is confident none of his Newcastle players will think the job is already done

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton insists his players are fully focused on victory at Peterborough on Saturday despite last night's 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest taking them to the brink of an immediate return to the Premier League.

If Newcastle win at London Road and Forest lose at Bristol City, Hughton's team will clinch promotion at the first time of asking.

The full-time whistle last night sparked jubilant celebrations at St James' Park, but Hughton is confident none of his players will think the job is done.

"I dont see that happening," said the former Tottenham assistant. "It's a very professional changing room and what we are aware of is the moment you think you are there, you can lose a football match - and if you lose a football match, it all changes again."

And Hughton claimed no targets have been set, despite Newcastle leading the table by four points with a game in hand and closing in on 100 points.

"The only target we have is promotion. A points achievement that goes with it, any accolade that goes with it, we will gladly accept. But our only target is promotion."
