Wayne Rooney writes letter to FIFA in bid to limit Euro 2012 ban

11 April 2012

Wayne Rooney has reportedly penned a personal letter to FIFA in an attempt to limit his Euro 2012 suspension following his sending-off against Montenegro.

The Manchester United striker is facing at least a one-match ban after he was dismissed for kicking out at Mlodrag Dzudovic during Friday's qualifying clash.

The letter comes after England boss Fabio Capello warned his star player he may have a battle on his hands to regain his place.

Capello said: "I need to find the solution for the first game, or two games, that Rooney will not play.

"And if we find that solution, he needs to work to return to the first 11."
