Wayne Rooney fears he is facing a dressing room backlash as doubts continue to grow over his Old Trafford future.

The 27 year-old striker is reportedly concerned that some of his teammates at Manchester United are turning against him over his proposed move to Chelsea.

Senior players, including Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra, are said to be disappointed that Rooney has ignored their pleas for him to stay at the club.

Rooney withdrew from United's pre-season trip to Sweden with a shoulder injury yesterday - shortly after the club announced that they had rejected a second offer from the west London club.

United manager David Moyes has insisted that Rooney's injury was not serious and appeared to suggest that he could look to field the striker in upcoming friendlies including Rio Ferdinand's testimonial on Friday and Sunday's Community Shield match against Wigan.

He told the club website: "Wayne hurt his shoulder in a fall during a match on Saturday. It's not too serious and I don't expect it to keep him out for too long.

"I'm disappointed he's missing the game because we were keen to get him back involved and ready to play."

It comes as Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher admitted that he is worried about the possible departure of Rooney.

"You do worry he might leave because he's a fantastic football player," Fletcher told the Press Association.

"But we will leave that sort of thing to Wayne and the club. Me personally, I hope he stays because he has been fantastic for Manchester United and a big part of all we have achieved in the last nine, 10 years since I have been in the squad. "In that respect I hope he stays and we achieve more things together for United."
