Javi Gracia believes Troy Deeney is one of a number of Watford players who could go on to coach at the club.

Deeney, 30, is enjoying a brilliant run of form since the turn of the year, scoring five goals and laying on three assists.

Only Sergio Aguero, who is set to lead the line for Manchester City against Watford on Saturday, can better that record in 2019.

When asked if Deeney could become a coach at Watford after hanging up his boots, Gracia told Standard Sport: “Yeah, I think so.

“There are players now [who could work as a coach here]. I see [Tom] Cleverley, [Adrian] Mariappa, Troy, [Adam] Masina.”

Watford would seem like the logical place for Deeney to cut his teeth as a coach.

The striker is into his ninth year at Vicarage Road and has been captain since 2014.
