Watford got no reward for an encouraging display against Liverpool and Ikechi Anya admits a lack of cutting edge is costing them.

The Hornets lost 2-0 at Anfield yesterday, wasting a number of chances to take something from the game.

“We are just missing that clinical edge that we had at the start of the season,” said Anya.

“We did enough to score a couple of goals, especially in the first-half, and we can look at that with disappointment. We could have made it 1-1 when Odion Ighalo turned his man and the keeper made a great save but then we conceded the second and it is difficult to get back into it.”

Boss Quique Sanchez Flores faced further questions about his future and more should become clear next week when the season is over.

Watford, who still have hopes of a top-half finish, travel to Norwich on Wednesday before playing Sunderland at Vicarage Road on the final day.

Defender Craig Cathcart said: “I am sure in hindsight when the season is finished we will think how good we have been this year.”
