Troy Deeney says Watford can surprise people under Walter Mazzarri this season.
The Hornets are tipped to struggle but, after a 4-2 win at West Ham last weekend got their campaign up and running, Deeney believes they can exceed expectations.
Watford face Manchester United at Vicarage Road on Sunday and Deeney said: “The main aim for a club our size is to stay in the Premier League. But why can’t we do a Leicester? You have got to aim for the sky.
“We have probably got the best technical squad I have been involved in. Everything is in place to be better than we were before.”
Deeney scored his first goal of the season in the victory at Upton Park and has not given up hope of an England call-up.
The striker, who is also eligible to play for Jamaica, scored 13 Premier League goals last season and the only English players with more were Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Jermain Defoe.
Deeney was overlooked by then England coach Roy Hodgson for Euro 2016 but still dreams of playing international football.
Asked what he has left to achieve in football, Deeney said: “I strive for perfection. I can play for England. If that does not come I can still play for Jamaica. There is still so much more to do.”
United have lost back-to-back games, following their 1-0 defeat by Feyenoord in the Europa League last night.
United, who suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season against Manchester City last weekend, made eight changes for the game in Holland.
But Jose Mourinho says he will revert to his strongest team against Watford. He added: “We go back to a normal team without so many changes.”
