England’s players had to deal with a few over-zealous tackles in their final World Cup warm-up against Honduras and this week they week they were trying their hands at the Brazilian martial art, Capoeira.

Forwards Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge were the most eager to get involved, giving their best at the acrobatics along with some local children.

“We’re in the favelas, you can see some of the kids and the opportunities that they don’t have,” said Sturridge. “Doing the Capoeira and seeing the kids play football, having a little dance with the kids, it’s all good, it’s all healthy for us.”

The heat was intense as the England squad trained in preparation for their first game against Italy, but Liverpool striker Sturridge said the temperature is something they are getting accustomed to.

“It was very warm so it was in difficult conditions but we’re getting used to that. Every day we train in the heat, the more and more we’re getting used to it.”

Team-mate Welbeck added: “Now it’s getting down to crunch time and everyone’s really focused. We’re being professional about the ways to go into the Italy game.

“It’s an exciting time and we’ve really got to enjoy it and just give it our all. Hopefully we get the right result.”
