During his time at Chelsea and Real Madrid Arjen Robben was known for his injuries as much as his stunning goals and mazy dribbling.

The Dutchman, who has gone on to win a series of titles with Bayern Munich including last season's treble, almost did more damage to himself with a failed knee-slide celebration following his goal in a 2-0 win over Braunschweig.

The mistimed slide had the 29 year-old bouncing painfully off the turf and sustaining a rip in his leggings worn under his shorts.

To add insult to attempted to injury, a GIF of the 'celebration fail' went viral across Twitter and Facebook with football fans mocking the star.
