Tottenham are hopeful Victor Wanyama will be involved in Wednesday’s match at Swansea despite a back problem.

The injury forced Wanyama off the pitch shortly before half-time in last Saturday’s 2-0 win at Burnley, but the Kenyan midfielder is believed to have travelled to south Wales with the rest of the squad.

That suggests Wanyama should, at least, be among the substitutes, meaning he could extend his ever-present Premier League record for Spurs since moving from Southampton for £9million last summer.

Meanwhile, Harry Winks hopes to be involved in Tottenham’s pre-season programme after completing his recovery from ankle ligament damage.

Tottenham confirmed on Tuesday that the midfielder would be ruled out for the rest of this campaign following the injury he suffered at Burnley.

Initially, there were fears that Winks would face many months on the sidelines, but it is understood the 21-year-old expects to be absent for about eight weeks before trying to force his way back into first-team action.

That means Winks could be involved in at least part of Spurs’ build-up to the new campaign, which includes a short trip to the US from July 22-2. On the tour, Mauricio Pochettino’s team take on Paris St Germain, Roma and Manchester City in friendly matches as part of the global International Champions Cup.
