Unai Emery pleased to see Arsenal suffer in Europa League win over Qarabag

1/30

Unai Emery revealed he was glad to see his Arsenal side ‘suffer’ in their Europa League win over FK Qarabag on Thursday night.

The Gunners travelled 2,500 miles as Sokratis, Emile Smith Rowe and Matteo Guendouzi secured a 3-0 win in Baku to make it eight wins from eight in all competitions since their defeat to Chelsea in August.

Arsenal now sit top of their Europa League group on goal difference, with their toughest opponents, Sporting, level on points after two games.

Sokratis put the Gunners ahead early on, but Emery had to wait until just shy of the hour mark to see his side push clear.

"I think we suffered in the match - but I want to suffer," Emery said.

"I want to not find easy matches, like today. Then, in our moments, to show you and show them our possibilities, our quality and our organised moments.

“I think in the 90 minutes today, the team worked very well."

Up next for the Spaniard, the slightly shorter trip from north to west London to take on Slavisa Jokanovic’s struggling Fulham side.
