Ukraine ask Andriy Shevchenko to take coach’s job

12 November 2012

Andriy Shevchenko has been offered the position of Ukraine head coach, the country’s football federation announced today.

The former Chelsea striker, 36, ended his playing days in July to pursue a career in politics. He has been approached about replacing Oleg Blokhin, who left to take over at Dynamo Kiev in September.

Shevchenko, who won his 111th and final cap for Ukraine against England at Euro 2012, does not have any managerial or coaching experience.
