Tottenham target Juan Foyth is attracting strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain, according to sources in Argentina.

Spurs had held discussions with the 19-year-old’s club, Estudiantes, last week and Foyth was keen to move to London.

But PSG are now thought to be rivalling Tottenham for his signature and are ready to pay Estudinates’ £8m asking price up front.

Reports in Argentina indicate that Tottenham’s offer was an initial payment of £5.4m, with the remaining £2.6m dependent on appearances and performance targets.

Foyth had also attracted interest from Inter Milan and Roma but PSG now look the favourites to be his next club.

Foyth was part of the Argentina squad at the Under-20 World Cup, where they were beaten by eventual winners England. While he is highly rated, he has made only eight appearances for Estudiantes’ senior side.

But despite his relative inexperience, Spurs have identified the defender as a possible star of the future.

When asked about a possible move to Europe earlier this month, Foyth said: “I like competitive leagues more than anything. I always watch the English, Italian and Spanish leagues.”
