Nabil Fekir says Liverpool transfer is ‘ancient history’ and that only the club know why deal collapsed

Lyon forward Nabil Fekir insists his failed transfer to Liverpool is now ‘ancient history’, before suggesting that medical concerns cited at the time were untrue.

Liverpool had looked set to bring the now 25-year-old to Anfield this summer after agreeing a financial package with both the play and the Ligue 1 side.

But the deal would collapse at the 11th hour due to concerns with his medical - and Liverpool did not make an attempt to resurrect the deal, eventually signing Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City.

But Fekir says that only Liverpool know the ‘real reason’ why the deal collapsed, but insisting that he has moved on from the ordeal.

"Yes, the missed transfer to Liverpool is totally digested,” he told reporters following Friday’s match with Strasbourg. “These are things that happen. It's like that. We must advance. It's ancient history.

"I heard several things. The real reason is that they (Liverpool) only know it"
