Crystal Palace have confirmed the appointment of Frank de Boer as manager.

The 47-year-old Dutchman has signed a three-year deal at Selhurst Park to become the full-time successor to Sam Allardyce.

The former England manager won nine of his 24 Premier League in charge to secure Palace's top flight status after succeeding Alan Pardew last December, before resigning last month.

Crystal Palace’s backroom staff are expected to remain in situ, though De Boer is likely to bring in an addition of his own.

De Boer’s short spell at Inter was his second stint as manager with his first being a hugely successful five-and-a-half years with Ajax where he won four successive Dutch titles.

De Boer has been considering his next move carefully since his 14‑game spell in charge of Inter, who were under new Chinese ownership. He left Inter with the club 12th in Serie A but Palace chairman Steve Parish was impressed when he interviewed the former Holland defender.

Parish has wanted to appoint a manager who will stay at Selhurst Park long enough to build the club and sees De Boer as that man.

The chairman has also been weighing up the direction Palace want to go in terms of the style of the team. De Boer played for Ajax, Barcelona, Galatasaray and Rangers, as well as making more than 100 appearances for Holland.

In a statement released on the club's website, De Boer said: "I am thrilled to be appointed as manager of Crystal Palace Football Club. It is a great honour to take charge of such an historic club, a club that is known around the world for its hugely proud and passionate fan base. This role is a hugely exciting opportunity for me, and I cannot wait to get started in the Premier League with the players and staff here in south London."

Parish added: "“We have undertaken a thorough interview process to ensure we are in a position to appoint a manager of the calibre and experience that Frank brings with him. I am pleased to welcome him to Crystal Palace and I know he cannot wait to get started and prepare for our record breaking fifth season in the top flight."

De Boer was in contention for both the Tottenham job prior to Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment, and was also considered for the position at Liverpool.

Meanwhile, the club have announced their new shirt sponsor for the 2017-18 season, ManBetX, in a record deal for the club
