Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has given the biggest indication yet that Danny Drinkwater and Victor Moses are not part of his plans.

Both players have barely featured under the Italian this term as Sarri keeps faith with the players who have helped the club go on a 15-game unbeaten run.

Drinkwater, who joined from Leicester for £35 million in 2017, has played just 30 minutes for the Blues this term and that was as a substitute in the Community Shield against Manchester City.

Moses was a regular at right wing back under previous coach Antonio Conte, but has started just one match this term.

Chelsea have gone from a 3-4-3 under Conte to a 4-3-3 and Sarri feels his formation doesn't suit either man.

He said: "I think the situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield (ahead of Jorginho or Fabregas) with two midfielders. I told him two months ago what I think.

"Moses is more suitable for playing like a wing back, than a winger or a full back. Do they have a future at Chelsea? I don’t know. They have to improve but their characteristics are a little bit different."

Standard Sport revealed last month that Moses is already considering his future at Stamford Bridge due to the lack of appearances.

Meanwhile, Sarri believes that Chelsea are doing the right thing by sending their best youngsters away on loan.

The club have been heavily criticised over the years for their regular use of the system as well as not giving their academy graduates more of a chance in the senior side.

The Blues played against two of their most talented trainees in the Carabao Cup win over Derby in midweek.

Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori, who joined the Championship club on a season-long loan, both impressed in Derby's 3-2 defeat.

Sarri said: "I think that if you are 19-20 then it is better to go on loan. It is better to play and get experience.

"It is not possible that every player is good enough to play here when he is 19-20. When you are 22, after one or two loans, then you have to fight to try to have minutes here.

"It is not easy but it is not easy also at the other big clubs. It is not easy to play for Manchester City, Manchester United, Juventus.

"It is normal, if you want to play with continuity in a team like this. You have to play well when you are on loan, very very well."
