You're the ref: Wenger flew out to Rome today

Arsene Wenger has been pictured at an airport on deadline day - but not to secure a dramatic late transfer.

The Arsenal boss flew to Rome this morning to take part in tonight's 'Match for Peace', aiming to promote religious harmony.

With Gunners supporters desperate for the club to strengthen following a serious injury to Olivier Giroud and yesterday's 1-1 draw at Leicester, the sight of Wenger using the final day if the window to fly to Italy will provoke anger in many quarters.

However, Wenger made the trip with leading agent Leon Angel and the club insist the Frenchman will still be able to play a key part in any talks should he be required to assist chief executive Ivan Gazidis and negotiator Dick Law.

And perhaps Wenger could even pull off a sensational deal after all: among the players set to attend, according to the event's website, are Lionel Messi, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Javier Mascherano and Fredy Guarin.
