Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is facing a selection headache at right-back ahead of Saturday’s visit to Everton.

New signing Serge Aurier, 24, is yet to train with the squad after his deadline-day transfer was confirmed while he was on international duty with the Ivory Coast.

He played 120 minutes in this week’s World Cup qualifying double-header against Gabon, returned to the club on Thursday to take part in light training. Pochettino is unlikely to risk him from the start at Goodison Park after his hectic week.

Kieran Trippier, meanwhile, has spent the week trying to recover from a recurrence of the ankle problem he suffered in pre-season.

Pochettino will provide an update on Trippier later on Thursday, but he is also expected to be assessed. Davinson Sanchez, another summer signing, can cover at right-back, but he also returned to the club today after playing in Colombia’s match against Brazil.

Kyle Walker-Peters, 20, who made his debut at Newcastle on the opening day of the season, is on standby.
