Kyle Walker has joined his manager in calling on Tottenham fans to get behind the team during home games.

The 23 year-old England and Spurs full back admitted to Standard Sport that the frustration of supporters at White Hart Lane is affecting the players, echoing comments made by Andre Villas-Boas stating that home supporters had contributed to a negative atmosphere after last weekend's tense 1-0 win against Hull.

Walker said: "The supporters are fantastic, home and away. But they need to understand that when Hull came here and parked the bus, it won’t be that free-flowing game they’re used to seeing Spurs play, week-in, week-out.

"It’s just about being patient and just waiting for that goal to come. it won’t be a 4, 5-0 when they’ve so many men behind the ball.He added: "The fans need to take that into consideration, a bit of patience and they need to get behind us, instead of making us a little bit more nervous and thinking ‘flipping hell, we need to do this and need to do that'.

"Have confidence that goal will come and when it does, take the roof off."

Walker continued. "I understand fans pay good money and want entertainment – I was the same when I used to watch Sheffield United – but when teams play so defensively, they’re going to be difficult to break down."
