Mauricio Pochettino insists he is not concerned about Christian Eriksen’s commitment since the uncertainty around his Tottenham future over the summer.

Eriksen was criticised for his performance against Olympiakos in the Champions League on Wednesday as Spurs threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 in Athens.

The Dane is in the final year of his contract at Tottenham and has made no secret of his desire to play for a major European club.

Real Madrid and Juventus are interested in Eriksen but Pochettino insists he is not worried about the midfielder's form.

Pochettino said: “Maybe Wednesday was not his best game, like the team. The collective performance was not the best from us. But I am happy with the commitment of Christian, he ran a lot, was very committed with the team, the effort. I am not concerned about him.”

After the Olympiakos game, Harry Kane said Tottenham are making the same mistakes they were in Pochettino’s first season in charge.

Asked about Kane’s comment, Pochettino said: “I respect what the players say. I am not going to judge what the players said because I was not there. I cannot talk about the words and the intention.

“Of course when you are disappointed you always look to try to improve, in different aspects we need to improve. Liverpool, after winning the Champions League, lost against Napoli 2-0. City lost against Norwich. Always football is dynamic and it is today.

“Of course in every single game you create goals and things to improve. The most important thing is the players realise that we need to work hard to improve and be consistent. Always, in 10 months during the whole season, there are different periods of ups and downs. How we started the season, not in our best, our effort must be massive to improve in all the areas we need to.”
