Tottenham consider full-time coaching job for Yaya Toure after Man City legend impresses with Under-18s

Yaya Toure is set to meet with Tottenham to decide his future this month, with the Ivorian in the frame for a full-time coaching role at the club.

Toure has been working towards his coaching badges with Spurs' Under-18s since December, under the supervision of academy manager Dean Rastrick, head of coaching Chris Powell and coach Stuart Lewis.

The 38-year-old, who won three league titles with Manchester City as a player, is set to earn his UEFA A Licence in the next few weeks and is eager to land a job at Spurs or elsewhere, with a view to working his way into a senior position in future.

After initially doing one day a week, Toure has stepped up his involvement at Hotspur Way over the last few months and the club are happy with his progress and considering offering him a full-time position in the academy now the U18 campaign is over.

The former Barcelona midfielder, who lives in north London, has previously held coaching positions at Ukrainian club Olimpik Donetsk and Russian side Akhmat Grozny, leaving the latter in June.

A number of promising coaches have worked at Spurs' academy, including Bournemouth manager Scott Parker and Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna.
