Michel Vorm and Fazio come into the Spurs starting line-up as Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen are injured.

In total, Maurcio Pochettino has been forced to make two changes from last Sunday's dismal 0-0 draw away to Burnley.

Pochettino, aiming to mount a late charge for Champions League qualification, has chosen to factor in a little more attacking verve against Tim Sherwood's Aston Villa.

Last week he chose to play Christian Eriksen in a wider position on the right of midfield with Paulinho staying central to assist Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason.

Today, Eriksen will return to his more familiar central attacking role with Andros Townsend and Nacer Chadli to the right and left of him. Harry Kane starts up front on his own.

Bentaleb and Mason take up their usual holding midfield positions.

In defence, Fazio partners Eric Dier in the centre as Vertonghen is still suffering from illness. Chiriches and Danny Rose occupy the right and left full back roles. Walker has a foot problem.

Vorm replaces Lloris who continues to have problems with a knee injury that he suffered against Leicester City.

If statistics are to be believed, Spurs won't have a problem here. They are unbeaten in 12 league meetings against Aston Villa and have won the last five, equalling their longest winning run in this fixture.

Tottenham: Vorm; Chiriches, Dier, Fazio, Rose; Bentaleb, Mason; Townsend, Eriksen, Chadli; Kane

Subs: Friedel, Davies, Yedlin, Lamela, Paulinho, Stambouli, Soldado

Aston Villa: Guzan, Bacuna, Vlaar, Clark, Richardson, Cleverley, Delph (c), Sanchez, Grealish, Agbonlahor, Benteke

Subs: Given, Baker, Okore, Weimann, Cole, N’Zogbia, Lowton

Ahead of the game, Pochettino told the media he expects Tim Sherwood to get a good reception on his return to White Hart Lane.

"I expect a very good reception because he is a manager that worked here and spent a lot of time here, like a player and as manager," he said.

"He helped the academy to develop young talent and I hope he gets a very good reception from the supporters because I think he deserves that."
