Brendan Rodgers responds to Tottenham transfer ‘interest’ in Celtic stars

Ange Postecoglou’s recruitment at Parkhead played major role in success

Brendan Rodgers insists he is not worried about the prospect of Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou moving for Celtic players this summer.

Spurs appointed the Australian earlier this summer and the club have been linked with a number of big-name players at Parkhead.

Recruitment played a major role in Postecoglou’s success with the Glasgow giants, particularly when looking to the Japanese market.

Having managed in the J-League, Postecoglou brought the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda into Celtic to great success, restoring the club back to the summit of the Scottish game.

Naturally, many of those names are being touted as targets during Postecoglou’s first transfer window in north London.

Still, Rodgers has stressed he is not concerned about the idea of Tottenham trying to sign the players who have previously served Postecoglou so well.

Speaking upon his return to Celtic, Rodgers said: “Listen, when you’ve got top players they are always going to attract attention elsewhere.

“Those boys have come in and done exceptionally well. But I don’t worry about that.”

Spurs are close to completing their first signing of the summer with Guglielmo Vicario undergoing a medical ahead of a £17m move from Empoli.
