Former Tottenham full-back Alexander McQueen has signed a one-year contract with League Two club Carlisle United, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old was part of Spurs' development side, and was also named in the club's senior squad last year for Tottenham's Europa League trip to Benfica.
But after his contract at White Hart Lane expired at the end of last month, McQueen has decided to help Carlisle in their bid to secure a top-seven finish next season by agreeing a one-year deal with the option to extend for a further year.
Speaking about the move, McQueen said: "I enjoyed four great years at Spurs, three as a scholar, and one as a first team professional.
"However, when you’re a young player surrounded by players of international calibre, it’s hard to break through. Sometimes you need to take a step back to take two forward.
"When I went to meet with Keith [Curle] and some of his backroom team a couple of weeks ago, I got a really good vibe about the club.
"During my time with Spurs, you were expected to play the ball short and to feet at all times, so it was music to my ears when Keith said he was looking to build a team that played good football.
"Hopefully 2016 will be a fruitful year for me and, importantly, Carlisle United Football Club."
