Tottenham striker Harry Kane should "kick up a stink" about being played in a No.10 role, according to Tony Cascarino.
Kane scored 25 goals to win the Premier League Golden Boot last season but has seen his role at Spurs altered during the early stages of the current campaign.
Vincent Janssen's arrival has added another dimension to Tottenham's attack and Mauricio Pochettino has experimented with using Kane behind the Dutchman for the north Londoners.
But Cascarino is adamant deploying Kane behind another striker will not get the best out of the Englishman, who is yet to score in three top-flight appearances this season.
"Harry Kane is just too nice," Cascarino told the Times.
"He's being played at No.10 for Spurs and his form is suffering because of it. He is a No.9, it's plain and simple.
"He won't rock the boat though, he won't kick up a stink about not being in his strongest position," he added.
Kane has failed to hit the ground running for the second season in a row and Cascarino is adamant he deserves to be played to his strengths rather than shunted around to accommodate others.
"He's had a poor start to the season, as he did last year, and was only OK against Liverpool.
"Kane is not an OK player, he is so much more than that and deserves to be used as a No.9."
Tottenham's next domestic fixture is against Stoke City following the conclusion of the international break.
The Potteries was a happy hunting ground for Kane last season as he scored a brace in his a 4-0 victory against Mark Hughes' side in March and will be in contention to lead the line next Saturday.
